First Aiders are essential for competitions and training to take place in athletics, so it was great to see a full house of 24 volunteers turn up to the First Aid Course held at Camberley on 25th January. Run by Brian from Myosis, volunteers from Walton AC, Guildford and Godalming, Camberley District and various running clubs from outside the network came together to either become First Aiders or to reinforce their First Aid training.
General sports First Aid was covered including how to deal with broken bones, anaphylactic shock, practice of CPR, correct recovery position and examinations of medicinal administers.
Wendy Letheby from Walton AC said “It was a good refresher course.. Not much has changed since I did my initial course, but it was good to reinforce my knowledge of First Aid which helps me feel more confident should a situation arise. The tutor was very good at involving everyone.”
Booklets were handed out on the day, but official certificates should be issued shortly.
Special thanks to Camberley and District AC for hosting the course. Keep your eyes peeled for the next First Aid course date to appear.
