SAN 2014 Quadkids Tournament

We are pleased to announce that the dates and formats for the 2014 SAN Quadkids Tournament have finally been agreed!

See below for the dates (all Wednesdays), venues and times. Click here to view the timetable.

Date Venue Time
18th June 2014 – Qualifying 1 YAC, Spectrum, Guildford 17:00 – 20:00
9th July 2014 – Qualifying 2 Walton AC, Walton-Upon-Thames 17:00 – 20:00
16th July – Final YAC, Spectrum, Guildford 17:00 – 20:00

Please note there are a couple of changes this year:

1) Following last years feedback, the final shall now take place in the same school term as the Qualifying rounds making it easier for schools to compete.
2) Entry fees for each team (10 Athletes) has now been raised to £60 in response to making all SAN events self-funded.

This poster highlights the age groups and qualifying conditions for the final, so please read it carefully. The age qualification has now been based upon school years 5 and 6 to encourage both schools and clubs to participate – therefore athletes in years 5 and 6 can now compete.

Click here to view the QuadKids Primary Manual if you are not familiar with the primary school format.

As always, all athletes will receive a personalised certificate of achievement and those who achieve the required standard will each receive a Quadkids badge.

Finally – please make sure you register with Stephen Wilder if you wish to participate as there is a limit of 8 teams to each Qualifying round venue. Teams will be allocated on a first come first served basis – so don’t leave it until last minute to register!

Good luck to all teams competing!

England Athletics Consultation Programme

Following the successful 2012 and 2013 Consultation Programme’s, England Athletics is pleased to announce its 2014 Consultation Programme which is committed to maintaining engagement with clubs and stakeholders within Athletics.

A series of regional club conferences are being held between March and May 2014. These conferences will give clubs an opportunity to come together and discuss any challenges they face, issues that are important to them and how they view the future for athletics clubs in England. Members of each regional council and club representatives will be leading discussions at each event. Issues to be explored are:

– Affiliation and membership
– Spending priorities for EA
– The England Athletics Online Portal for Membership Secretaries, Athletes and volunteers (including demonstrations of new improvements to functionality)

As each EA region is different, matters important to local clubs as well as core issues will be discussed. Regional topics for discussion will be determined by England Athletics regional councils, so if you have a topic you would like to be included in discussion, it is important to now get in contact with your regional councilors. Possible topics up for discussion are:

– Youth development
– Competition (including strategy)
– Facilities
– Community Participation
– Online entry systems
– Volunteer Recruitment
– Road Racing
– Coaching

Following the club conferences, later this year we will once again offer everyone within athletics the opportunity to have their say via an online consultation survey.

To register for a club conference please e.mail with your name, club and role within the club. No matter what role you occupy within your club, you are welcome to come along – so all athletes, volunteers, coaches, officials and committee members are welcome.
